Big news! Big, big news!

The kind of news that needs to be shouted from the mountains, and I daren't tell anyone yet.

That's right, I said daren't.  And I'll say it again.

I'm holding it in, letting it percolate in my brain for just a few more days, until I get the official say-so that I can proclaim from the highest peaks my amazing news.

I wonder if it's the kind of news that's amazing to me, but not so to others.

Like when you get a root canal, and you describe it in great detail to the first person you meet.  That person wasn't really looking for the description of what you smelled when the dentist was drilling five inches deep into your gumline, yet you told them anyway.

Is this that kind of news?

I don't think so.  No teeth were drilled in this process.

Christchurch

When the Earth decides it doesn't want to stay put any longer, and has one of its violent moodswings, it puts into perspective everything, everywhere.
Bieber's haircut?
Gaga coming out of an egg?
Whether or not the Canucks won?
None of it matters when you hear about something like New Zealand.
All of my thoughts, wishes, and prayers go out to everyone there and everyone with loved ones living there.

1st Hockey Game

'Let's go, Clippers, let's go!'
BOOM, BOOM!
For a kid that startles at loud sounds and tells me the music is too loud, he sure handled himself well at his first hockey game last night.  Not quite 4, and he loved every minute of it, even if he did have his head resting on my chest for the entire third period.
I don't know what he was more excited about: going to the hockey game, or getting to stay up way past his bed time.
It was an amazing night, and I got to hang out with one of the coolest kids in the world.
Good times.

PJs to School

My darling son got to go to preschool in his pyjamas today, and the way he shrieked 'PYJAMA DAY!' at the top of his lungs the second he woke up this morning, to say he was excited would be an understatement.  He rolled in, fully ensconced in his pyjamas, and proceeded to have the best day at preschool yet.  I do have to admit I am roiling with envy.

On another note, as of right now, 116 copies of Hemingway Man have been downloaded!  Can I say 'woo-hoo' yet?

Hemingway Man Long Time Coming

Holy Toledo!  Seventy downloads in 24 hours.  That's wicked!
I started this book over three years ago, and worked it, edited it, had it worked on by friends, and found Smashwords.  So cool.
Between getting up at 6, hanging out and entertaining two boys all day because I have an aversion to TV baby-sitting, and generally living life, there's not a lot of time left in the day to make a story.
I think we have to remember the stories we're living every day, and jot them down somewhere in a spare moment.

Hemingway Man at Smashwords!

Hello, y'all!
Hemingway Man, my second novel, is now available for free download at smashwords.com!  It's readable on pretty much every digital platform, and I'm really proud of it.
It's a very personal tale, about a young man who's just lost his father and follows the unconventional teachings of Ernest Hemingway on the path to manhood.
I hope you enjoy it, tell your friends, get the world to download it, and review the heck out of it!
Peace!
